Where architecture meets the cosmos

Documenting Morocco's first participation in the Venice Architecture Biennale with the project "Materiae Palimpsest". This exploration captures a moment of representation, dialogue, and positioning within a global architectural discourse with architect Khalil Morad El Ghilali.

On August 2, 2027, a total solar eclipse will sweep across Morocco from west to east — one of the longest of the century, and the last the country will see before 2114. Following astrophysicist Youssef Moulane and the young research team he is training, the film traces over a year of preparation, from a dress rehearsal in Palencia, Spain in August 2026, to the day an entire country looks up at the same sky.

The film follows planetary scientist and geologist Hasnaa Chennaoui Aoudjehane, who specializes in meteorites, in her search for meteorites across Morocco, fragments as old as Earth itself, formed at the dawn of the Solar System, that offer a way to read our own origins in the debris of the cosmos.

A series of filmed portraits documenting Moroccan architects and artists, preserving practices, voices, and trajectories as part of a broader heritage approach, including architect Youssef Melehi and artist Tibari Kantour.
